Business School

In our Business and Entrepeneurship Academy, TECx will provide a unique program designed to teach students, and have them apply, critical skills around business, entrepeneurship, creativity, collaboration and innovation. It will incorporate and combine the following four elements:

TECx’s business school will blend an entrepreneurship curriculum with an experiential approach to traditional business subjects.

This program offers students an authentic entrepreneurship experience and will tie in with our incubator program. Students will have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Real entrepreneurs and business experts serve as volunteer coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the processes of developing hypotheses about a business concept, testing those hypotheses, adapting, and continually learning and improving. This cycle of experimentation is combined with foundational business content such as marketing and finance.

Create your own future: Students who love coding, or game development or inventing or just doing…can make their own career, create their own innovative product or service, blaze their own pathway to success. We will teach critical foundational business and entrepeneurship skills that will benefit all our students for life, whether or not they choose to go into business.

We will go beyond the theoreticl and help guide students to a successful launch of their company, product or service and help them with fundraising, execution, and to gain traction in the market place.

Students will also be able to work with our corporate and non-profit partners to utilize their business and technology skills, whether it be to solve a specific challenge or need one of these groups has, or to work on an exponential issue or problem that a student as identified as a passion to solve.

Students demonstrate their learning through explanation, interpretation and application of content to their team’s real business idea. We will help students test their thinking from concept to Minimum Viable Product to Pitch to Commercialization so that students are constantly hypothesizing, testing, adapting and learning. Importantly, they work and learn in teams..

Volunteer coaches, mentors, and the classroom teachers will all be involved. Coaches provide authentic business expertise in a specific area. They come into the classroom for a short period of time to provide all students with a real-world context for a specific curricular area. The coach and classroom teacher plan and present together. The coach’s focus is on curricular content, not war stories. Mentors are assigned to one team and follow them through the entire process providing students with feedback and encouragement. The classroom teacher is a certified teacher that manages the class and volunteers as well as provides continuity.
